Safety Of Cat Collars

As of 2021, there is currently controversy over whether a standard collar or a separate collar (unlocked from the application) is safer, or whether a cat collar is safe.
A study reported by The New York Times in 2010 showed that simple buckles are actually the safest for cats. Another study in 2013 showed that cats without collars (or without collars) have a greater risk of being lost outdoors than cats getting injured on collars.

However, veterinarians and animal welfare organizations still primarily recommend separated collars, as they are the ones with the lowest risk of injury to cats on collars.
